About this site

ToBra is an independent publication launched in May 2023 by Tony Branco. If you subscribe today for free, you'll get email newsletters about new content when it's available.

I decided to start this website as a way of having an outlet for writing about the thing I have always loved the most - sports. Sports have gotten me through some difficult times. Sports has always been an escape for me. You may have noticed a tag at the top of the home page labeled "mental health" and you may be saying to yourself, "That is an odd thing to have on a sports blog." And you would be right!

However, this is no typical sports blog. As I stated earlier, I am doing this as a form of therapy for myself. I have battled pretty bad depression for the past two years. I am sure I have had it my whole life, but I have been able to keep the monster at bay until recently when my mother passed away. I know I am not alone in battling this demon. Actually, it took me a while to realize I am not alone and that I needed help - which until recently has been stigmatized by society. So, if you are like me, and you view sports as an escape from everyday life, feel free to check in every once in a while.

And if you are feeling alone and despondent, feel free to click on the mental health tab which will redirect you to my GotMeThinking website where I write about more important things like looking in the mirror, reflecting, and taking care of yourself - physically, mentally, and spiritually.
